Dr. Marianne Matzo and Charlie Navarrette host a podcast, titled Everyone Dies, where they discuss the life-limiting illnesses, dying and death.
In episode 41 of their podcast series, titled "When someone you love dies from an overdose", they discuss the increasing number of overdose deaths and the complicated grief loved ones experience. Additionally, Marianne interviewed Operation Lighthouse co-founder Polly Mazanec about the death of her son Greg to an overdose of oxycontin laced with fentanyl. In the interview, Polly discusses the difficulties their family experienced when Greg was fighting his substance use disorder, the pain associated with his death, and some of the misconceptions that the stigma surrounding substance abuse disorder produces. The interview gives a very powerful perspective on substance use disorder and the difficulties families face when battling it.
